Thank You!

Being part of the Kentucky Florists Association convention again this year has been a real highlight, and getting to connect with all of you is the best part of it. I chose this topic because how people find a florist is changing fast, and being clear online is the difference between getting the call and getting skipped.

Everything covered in that session is on this page, free, no sign up required. Download what you need and start wherever makes sense for your shop.

Session Guides

These are the handouts referenced from the stage. All three are yours to keep, print, and share with whoever handles your website.

What Search Engines Actually Value in 2026

The five pillars, three checks you can run this week, and the five things that changed this year. This is the one to start with.

Your Google Business Profile

The full optimization guide. Every field that matters, the three things not to do, and the weekly and monthly rhythm that separates the profiles that get recommended from the ones that just sit there.

SEO Vocabulary for Small Business Owners

Every term in plain English. Keep it, and the next time someone uses one of these words at you, look it up and decide for yourself whether what they are describing is worth paying for.

Not sure where to start? Begin with the checklist.

Looking for the slides? The full slide deck from the session is available as well, though the guides above are where the detail lives.

Your KFA member listing is doing four jobs at once. It is a citation, an authority signal, a consistency check, and a link back to your website. That is four of the five things covered in this session, sitting inside something you already own.

Open it and read it the way a customer would. Check your business name, your address, your phone number, your services, and your photos. If anything is wrong or missing, fix it while you are thinking about it.

It takes about five minutes, and most members have never opened it.

Here Is What Changed This Year

Search did not stop working. The standard went up.

People are getting answers now without ever clicking through to a website. AI summaries sit above the results. Local results show fewer businesses and fewer ways to act on them. Review data is being licensed to AI companies, which means reviews you have not thought about in years are shaping what gets said about your shop.

None of that changes the fundamentals. All of it raises the cost of ignoring them.

You do not need to become an SEO expert. You need to understand what matters, so that protecting your visibility does not depend on guessing.

Your website is not just for people anymore. You are building it for people and for machines at the same time, and the machines cannot read your photographs.

The Five Things Search Engines Reward

The buzzwords change every year. These five do not. Everything in the checklist comes back to them.

Clarity

Is it immediately clear what you do and where you are located?

Structure

Does every service you offer have its own page? Weddings, sympathy work, everyday arrangements, delivery.

Authority

Do you have recent reviews and trusted mentions? Recency now carries more weight than volume.

Experience

Is your site fast, easy to use on a phone, and obvious about the next step?

Consistency

Does your business information read the same way everywhere online?

Most websites are not broken. They are unclear. There is a difference, and unclear is fixable.
